So this past weekend I was in Greenfield MA, for an experience that I could not have ever expected. The Brandt House is an old New England B & B offering the perfect environment for peace and quiet. This past weekend my friends and I met up there for the weekend celebrating a few of us turning 30. Truth be told I fell in love with this place. I can't decide whether or not it was the amazing house and property itself, the friendly welcoming staff, or the amazing breakfast's (that is most certainly blog worthy) or a combination of all three that makes this B & B top notch in my book.
This porch makes me want to make it a personal goal of mine to have a porch on my house some day that just invites relaxation. Its that simple, a rocking chair, a drink in hand, and well..actualy...that's pretty much all I needed. Amazing!
So on both Saturday and Sunday the staff cooked up some unreal breakfasts. Each morning after people started to wake up, we would meet up for breakfast. I would roll out of bed and smell fresh brewed coffee downstairs and live out in real life the Folgers coffee add. I must assume that the coffee wasn't Folgers though cause it was awesome!!! When I got down there and realized what was being served I was in heaven.
As side table with the needed extras, juice, toast, granola, cold cereal, fresh jam...you name it they had it.
The tables were always perfect each morning! Nice spread huh?
For starters each breakfast started with fresh fruit with a little splash of OJ in a bowl, genius right. There were blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, raspberries, clementines and kiwi. Delicious and the presentation was totally appreciated!
Then you got fresh Banana bread...c'mon I mean this was baked the night before and the entire house had the warm smell of it. It might be one of the best smells to ever come out of a kitchen. I will admit that I think most Banana breads are just all right, but this one was very good and the smell.....mmmmmmmmmmmm.
Then breakfast was served...their own version of Huevos Rancheros. It totally rocked out! I got my eggs scrambled, which came on top of a homemade fried black bean potato pancake, topped with pica de gallo, cheese and tortilla chips. Avocado, tomato, and sausage were served on the side. Truthfully, it was so delicious I couldn't believe it. Not only was it unexpected but it hit the spot...fresh, filling and unique. At this point I was ready to move to Greenfield, MA just for this breakfast! Oh yeah, this is still only breakfast #1...
Breakfast # 2...So after our first breakfast I was in the kitchen talking to the owners Steve and John about our plans for the day when Steve mentioned that tomorrows breakfast was to be triple sec french toast with bacon on the side. I nearly shed a tear. Just hearing that after we had experienced an amazing breakfast there was another one planned with triple sec in it, I was...lets just say I needed my inhaler at this point. I couldn't wait for the next dawn to come...and there it is.
It is just like Steve said it would be...delicious...and it exceeded my expectations. I'd describe it as excellent french toast with a hint of orange. It had powdered sugar and I added fresh maple syrup. It was combined with ridiculous bacon...there are no words! The bacon had people requesting extra sides of it. There are a few things in life that when cooked just right, and I mean just right, such as bacon that it is hard to top. They did it just right once again serving up one of the best pieces of bacon I have had in a long time.
So if you're interested in having an extremely relaxing weekend at a Classic New England Bed and Breakfast look no further, as "The Brandt House" in Greenfield MA will offer hospitality that you have always wanted.
The Brandt House is your house, your true home away from home and the perfect place to kick your feet up, relax and stop to smell the bacon.
